ISLAMABAD: The federal information minister claimed on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief had taken another ‘U-turn’ before the commission investigating allegations of rigging in the May 2013 general election.

In a statement, Pervaiz Rashid said Imran Khan had requested the inquiry commission to summon returning officers who had performed duties during the elections.

“It is another U-turn of Imran Khan as the PTI had not asked the commission, during its proceedings, to make the ROs witnesses in the inquiry,” he said.

Mr Rashid said writing a letter to the commission showed that Mr Khan had accepted his failure to present credible evidence of rigging.

At a time when the commission was about to complete its job, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had come up with another de­­mand to sow more confusion, he alleged.

“This demand of the PTI is tantamount to creating confusion and hurdles in meeting targets of national development,” he said.
