Imran rejects demand for KP chief minister’s resignation

ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) continue to build pressure on the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for its alleged role in rigging in the local government elections held in the province recently. In response, PTI chief Imran Khan has renewed his offer of re-election, if opposition parties desire so.
Talking to journalists outside the Supreme Court on Monday, Imran Khan defended his party’s government in KP against the opposition parties that were demanding resignation of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
The Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl have said that free and fair elections are not possible unless the PTI’s chief minister resigns.

During the media talk, Imran Khan said: “Holding free and fair elections is the ECP’s responsibility, but the PTI as ruling party is willing to discuss their concerns to the extent the provincial government can. I am surprised they are demanding resignation of the provincial government. Why should CM Khattak resign?”
Criticising the JUI-F and ANP, Imran Khan said that refusal by the two parties to attend an all-party conference convened by the chief minister on Tuesday showed their `double-standards’.

when IK was demanding Nawaz sharif,s resignation just for 1 month for free and fair investigation then these status quo parties were saving democracy. How it's justifiable to ask KP govt to resign? Can anybody ask why ANP did not hold LG polls in their tenure?

The bubble of this alliance has already been burst since JI has not only refused to participate in this sit in by these insignificant parties but has even questioned the need of doing one. These parties must go through a process of law in order to settle their grievances and can then legitimately go for protests if not provided justice.

The opposition parties are taking IK's offer for granted and are thinking that IK has offered them re-election because of their pressure and that with more pressure they can get their other demands accepted too. Well IK doesn't succumb to pressure from anyone and the re-election he offered is only due to his good and sincere heart. I think IK should make this a limited time offer and now should not be in an accommodating role because the opposition parties in KPK are wasting everybody's time. ANP, PPP, JUI F and PMLN don't want re-elections, they just want the entire province to remain unsettled.

The only reason the opposition parties are demanding Pervez Khattaks resignation is because IK wanted Nawaz Sharifs resignation last year. No other reason. Its a simple tit for tat game.
Otherwise I doubt any one of them really care whether Khattak stays or goes.
Nor are they really interested in re-elections, since if re-elections happen without a judicial order (such as via an election tribunal decision) then it will set a legal precedence for the rest of the country as well. And no one wants that.

@Lakhkar Khan Yes i am seeing milk and honey rivers in Punjab and Sindh and KP was part of heaven in ANP,s tenure and there is no case of corruption on Zardari and Nawaz sharif.

Hypocrisy of tri party alliance at its peak. They supported Nawaz when he was being pressurized for resignation now they are demanding the resignation of a Chief Minister. They just want to create chaos and won't ever agree to a reelection because they know that such a step would amount to a huge moral victory of PTI

Imran khan offers to hold re-elections ! Why? If the elections were fair then stand by them and defend your position, wasting sources (and having another 50 people killed) on another elections should not be taken an easy way out. If you are willing to hold elections again that means that there was mismanagement and the provincial government should resign, based on the same principle as PTI was demanding PM's resignation.

I have stated thousands of times that unity of leaders is very very essential at existing age. Enemies are united against Pakistan and PAK ARMY. Now enemies are united against Balochistan. IF today leaders will ignore the danger to Balochistan, history will be the witness for corrupt leaders. Are you a corrupt leader of Pakistan or honest?

PTI has shown willingness to go for reelections, an alternative arrangement as offered by PTI to PML N in dharana on the analogy, that the PM now CM KPK should give CM ship to a caretaker for 60 days and the polls are held under Army supervision. Let us start ANP aand JUI-F will be tested and JI may agree

Well Done Imran Khan. This is neya pakistan with accountabilty. IK all the parties have joined against you. Don't worry we can see all the corrupts are together against y0u, but the youth and the people of Pakistan are with you. You just need to organise your party well at the grass root level victory is coming inshallah. We are with you what may come. You have a vision others are just looters and liars. I live in Peshawar and can see the visible change in Police force and government institutions. The Police is professional now and they have reduced the crime whereas hospitals and schools are getting better with accountability catching the corrupts. So we are with you and if election happens again we will vote for you again. Inshallah IK you are the only hope for this country.
