FAISALABAD: Devastated by abject poverty, a man strangled his three little daughters to death in a village near here on Sunday.

According to police, Irshad Ahmed used a rope to kill six-year-old twins, Iman and Fiza, and seven-year-old Chishman in Chak 113 JB Phulahi in Jhumra area.

The man’s another daughter and a son were in Jaranawala with their mother.

The woman found the bodies of the girls when she returned home.

Irshad works in a garments factory and drives a rickshaw in the evening to supplement his income. But for some days he was deprived of the additional income because he had to stop driving the rickshaw.

According to an official, police are carrying out raids to arrest the accused.
