KARACHI: Referring to a report published in Dawn on Friday under the headline “Retired official being appointed PIA’s chief operating officer”, Kamran Hasan has said that after an inquiry by a retired judge hired by the PIA in 2010, gave its findings, he appealed to the competent authorities against it.

A fresh inquiry committee, which included a member from the ministry of defence, was constituted in 2011. After a detailed inquiry, the committee absolved him.

He said that having been cleared by the inquiry, and not under a person to person understanding as mentioned in the news item, he opted for early retirement.

Meanwhile, the PIA management said in a statement that the airline was not considering the appointment of a COO. No such point would be considered in the next board meeting, the statement added.
