PESHAWAR: Peshawar police claimed on Friday to have arrested 171 suspects among those Afghan nationals and proclaimed offenders and recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession, during a search and strike operation launched to maintain law and order situation, especially on the occasion of the local body elections being held today (Saturday).
According to police officials of cantonment circle the raids were conducted in various areas of cantonment and rural areas where 18 Afghans were also apprehended for not having valid documents for their stay in Pakistan.
The officials said of those arrested, 36 were picked for failure to submit tenant forms to the local police, while six of them were proclaimed offenders. They said the police also recovered 19 pistols, four Kalashnikovs and four rifles from them.
Meanwhile, FIA crime cell sealed a factory of fake beverages at Bashirabad locality in limits of Faqirabad police station and arrested its owner named Azeem Khan.
