Zakat for Bar?

Published May 30, 2015

THE Punjab chief minister is reported to have allocated Rs40m for the Lahore High Court Bar Association and Rs50m for the Supreme Court Bar Association. Normally, such financial help out of the poor taxpayers’ money is considered Zakat, and the recipients are considered destitute.

Will the worthy Lahore Higher Court and Supreme Court lawyers consider the message which this monetary grant will convey to admirers of the legal profession and common people?
