KARACHI: A suspected robber was killed in an alleged police encounter in the Memon Goth area on Friday.

Police said seven robbers stormed a factory at around 12.50pm and started looting mobile phones and other valuables from some employees present there. In the meantime, someone watching the incident via CCTV cameras in the factory contacted the nearby Memon Goth police station and informed the police about the robbers.

A police team was dispatched to the scene. On seeing the police, the suspects came out of the factory and tried to escape in the cover of firing.

A police constable, Dost Ali, sustained a bullet wound, said Memon Goth SHO Jan Mohammed Ahmdani.

The police chased the robbers and in an ensuing encounter near Sama Goth, one of them was shot dead while others managed to escape, he added.

A TT pistol was seized from him.

The police got the CCTV footage and hoped that the suspects would be arrested soon, said the area SHO.
