LAHORE: The district and sessions judge on Friday issued death warrants for two murder convicts who will be hanged on May 27 at the Kot Lakhpat Central Jail.

The judge issued the black warrants for condemned prisoners Abdul Khaliq and Shahzad on the application of the Kot Lakhpat jail superintendent.

Abdul Khaliq had been convicted by the district and sessions judge in 2002 for killing a man on the premises of Secretariat police station.

The other condemned prisoner, Shehzad, had killed a man in Iqbal Town police station limits and was sentenced to death in 2011.

Mercy petitions of both convicts were already turned down by the superior judiciary and the president.
