BADIN: A Pakistan Peoples Party worker has lodged a mugging case at the Model police station of Badin against five of the closest associates of former home minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza.

Nominating Diber Sindhi, Haji Mukhtiar Pitafi, Peroz Shahani, Inayat Ali Pitafi and Abdullah Mallah, the complainant, Ghulam Qadir Khoso, stated in the FIR registered late on Thursday night that the suspects intercepted his motorcycle when he was returning home. He claimed that they stopped him at Shah Jo Kot bus stop on Tando Bago-Badin Road on Thursday night. He alleged that the suspects beat him up and snatched the money he had in his pocket.

The complainant said that after doing their job, the suspects drove away in a double-cabin vehicle firing into the air.

Condemning what he called “another politically motivated FIR” one of the suspects, Mr Pitafi, told Dawn by phone that the complainant was a close associate of Badin PPP general secretary Dr Aziz Memon. He said that they [the nominated suspects] had just returned from Karachi where they remained busy in seeking bail in more than a dozen “fake” cases registered against them in recent weeks. He said they [supporters of Dr Mirza] could not be terrified by such tactics.
