Although I grew up in Pakistan, I can never imagine returning to a place where a draconian constitution decides who is a Muslim and who isn’t.

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan — is it really Islamic for Pakistani politicians to decide who is Muslim and who isn’t? Is it really Islamic to kill innocent people? The Holy Quran clearly says that if God wanted to enforce his will on people, he would have surely made us all the same (5:50). Instead, the Quran asks believers to vie with one another in doing good works. This verse is an invitation for the world, and the Muslim ummah to come together and work for the benefit of society. This verse admonishes us against judging one another, a right reserved for God alone.
