BADIN: A seventh FIR was registered against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) dissident leader and former home minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza in Badin district in addition to a few registered recently in Karachi.
The fresh FIR (No.45/2015) was registered at the Kario Ghanwar police station on Tuesday on the complaint of its SHO, Abdul Jabbar Khushik, against Dr Mirza, his 16 nominated associates and 50 other unknown supporters under various sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Pakistan Penal Code.
SHO Khushik stated in his complaint that Dr Mirza and others suspects attacked and injured Model police station SHO Wali Mohammed Chang; attacked and damaged a police van carrying Badin DSP Shaukat Shahani; and created a law and order situation near the Mirza family’s farms in Maurjhar during a police siege earlier this month.
Badin SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai held a press conference at the Model police station on Tuesday evening and claimed that Dr Mirza’s violent protesters attacked the police parties deployed at the farms.
They fired shots into the air and police later seized pistols and other weapons from some of the protesters. He said 16 suspects were arrested and kept at various police stations of the district.
Out of the seven FIRs, three have been registered at the Model police station, two at the Kario Ghanwar police station, one each at the Tando Bago and Pangrio police stations.
