ISLAMABAD: The Photographic Art Society of Pakistan in collaboration with Lok Virsa launched Yearbook 2015 that highlights the efforts of talented photographers.

The yearbook showcases the impressions of more than 100 photographers to underscore their creativity and skill.

Through the book, the society has tried to promote not only the art of photography but also portray the real and rich depiction of our cultural heritage to the world.

Over 100 images were put on a display at the heritage museum of Lok Virsa.

While some photographers focused on historical architecture, landscapes, cityscapes, still-life photography and portraits, the emphasis was also on creativity and the environment.

In all, the display projected a heavenly perspective of Pakistan.

Some guests were overwhelmed by the landscapes and cityscapes. “A few seem overly edited but most landscape pictures are simply breathtaking,” said Ejazul Haq, a visitor to the show.

Lok Virsa executive director Dr Fouzia Saeed appreciated the efforts of the society for encouraging photographers and their art besides strengthening the soft image of Pakistan locally and internationally.

She also underlined the need for the promotion of arts and culture as an integral part of sustainable development of the country.

While Samiur Rehman Khan, the president of the society, gave a presentation on his work, the book-launch ceremony was conducted by Abdul Sattar Khokhar, a senior civil service officer.

He introduced the objectives of the yearbook to the participants and appreciated the efforts of not only the executive members of the society but also all the artists.

He delivered a short lecture on the genesis of photography which included the summary of evolution of photography during the past two millennia.

Aftab Ahmad, a famous painter, sculptor, photographer, calligraphist and forensic sciences expert, introduced the art of photographic composition to the participants on the occasion.
