NOWSHERA: A man and a woman, who had tied the knot of their own sweet will, were killed allegedly by relatives of the woman in her parents’ house in Jehangaira here on Tuesday.

The victims, Faraz Khan and Maria, had solemnised court marriage after running away from home.

Police said Mohammad Nawaz, brother of Maria, called her on telephone and told her that mother was seriously ill. He assured that the family had pardoned them. According to the police, when the couple reached the home they were locked in a room and were later shot dead.

Villagers said that after the incident the bodies were dumped along GT road near Jehangira.

Sources said that the suspected killer, Mohammad Nawaz, later went to the Akora Khattak police station along with the weapon and confessed to the crime.

The police shifted the bodies to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera, for autopsy. The police registered the case and began further investigation.
