PPP women lawmakers slam Dr Mirza for his outrage

KARACHI: Women lawmakers of the Pakistan Peoples Party have warned former home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza that they will no more tolerate his hurling baseless allegations at party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur.
The PPP MPAs, Syeda Shehla Raza, Shermila Farooqui, Rubina Qaimkahni, Shamim Mumtaz, Kulsoom Chandio, Erum Khalid, Ghazala Sial, Seemi Farhat and Shahina Baloch, challenged Dr Mirza at a press conference at the party’s media cell on Sunday to an electoral contest and said any PPP woman could inflict a humiliating defeat on him and get his surety amount forfeited.

They warned him that if he did not stop hurling allegations and using what they called inappropriate language, they would have no other option but to pay him back in the same coin and then he would not have any place to hide.
They condemned use of violence by Dr Mirza and ransacking of a police station in Badin by him and his supporters.
They said that they would no more tolerate the baseless allegations he was leveling against Mr Zardari and PPP women wing president MNA Faryal Talpur and recalled sacrifices of Ms Talpur for the restoration of democracy and reorganising the party’s women wing after the assassination of party head Benazir Bhutto. “For us, Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur are like father and mother and as such we will not tolerate their insult anymore.”
The MPAs said that since the day the party had been founded, its opponents had been trying to rip it apart and Dr Mirza was being used by such elements. “The PPP is the party which has always demonstrated patience as it does not believe in the politics of aggression,” they added.
They said that Dr Mirza was also talking about accountability these days should also inform nation about Zafar Faridi who used to give him Rs10 million on a monthly basis.
They called upon the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority to take notice of the use of unethical language by Dr Mirza and his hurling baseless allegations against the party and its leadership.
