PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Monday constituted a task force headed by its chief engineer to restore power supply to storm-hit areas of Peshawar, Charsadda, Shabqadar and Nowshera.
Pesco chief executive officer Syed Hassan Fazil has declared emergency in these districts and dispatched staff to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the affected residents, according to a statement.
The statement said that up till now 88 per cent of electricity supply to urban, and 69 per cent to rural areas had been restored.
A large number of transmission lines were damaged due to torrential rains that hit the provincial metropolis and adjoining areas on Sunday.
The falling of trees caused tripping of many 11KV feeders. However Pesco staff succeeded to restore power supply in most of the areas.
The statement said that the Pesco chief also visited Charsadda, Hayatabad and areas on Charsadda and Shami roads in the provincial capital and directed the staff to expedite restoration of electricity supply.
