ISLAMABAD: In the wake of Pakistan’s humiliating whitewash in the ODI series before defeat in the one-off T20 international to Bangladesh, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan said on Sunday that the country’s cricketing system was “completely flawed”.

Shaharyar spoke to reporters during the inauguration of a cricket ground at Pakistan Sweet Homes and said that Pakistan’s loss was due to flaws in the fitness, coaching and organisation’s system, adding that there would be major changes to the national side.

“We were not simply defeated but we were badly defeated in Bangladesh,” the PCB chief said. “There is a possibility of major changes in the ODI team [which lost the rubber 3-0].”

He said that the team needed younger players and said that the senior players needed to move on. “The senior players have given their best for Pakistan and it is time to move on,” he said.

The PCB chief said in order to remove flaws from the system, the PCB is going to give “full focus to regional cricket and new academies are being made for this purpose”.

“Furthermore, we will initiate different steps for the grooming of young players at school level,” Shaharyar added.

Talking about Zimbabwe’s upcoming tour to Pakistan, Shaharyar said that Pakistan would provide foolproof security to the visitors.
