ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s left-handed batsman Haris Sohail gained 17 places to rise to 79th spot while captain Azhar Ali is ranked 85th in the latest ICC Rankings released on Thursday.

Also, fast bowler Wahab Riaz has climbed four places to grab 68th position.

However, Bangladesh’s dominance over Pakistan in the just-concluded ODI series is reflected in the rankings as their players are on upward movement.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, opener Soumya Sarkar and left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny have achieved career-best rankings to date while opener Tamim Iqbal, middle-order batsman Nasir Hossain, left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan and fast bowler Rubel Hossain have also made impressive gains.

Mushfiqur has jumped 12 places to break into the top 20 for the first time in his career to secure 18th position.

Soumya has vaulted 60 places to climb to a career-high 69th spot while Arafat has earned 53rd spot.

Tamim has moved up 18 places to 30th spot with Shakib claiming eighth position while Rubel’s four wickets has helped him rise five places to 57th position.

According to the ICC rankings, Pakistan entered the Bangladesh series on 95 ratings points but have now dropped to join the West Indies on 92 ratings points. And when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point then the West Indies are ranked ahead of Pakistan.

In a sharp contrast, Bangladesh has gained five ratings points and now sits on 81 ratings points. This means only 11 ratings points separate seventh-ranked West Indies from ninth-ranked Bangladesh.

World champions Australia continue to occupy the top spot followed by India.
