UPPER DIR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Tuesday announced to have solo flight in the upcoming local government elections in Upper Dir district after ending its poll alliance with Jamaat-i-Islami a few days ago.

The PTI leaders made the announcement at a meeting in Wari here. On the occasion, Mohammad Yar, who filed papers as an independent candidate for district council seat from Wari neighborhood council, announced to join the PTI. PTI’s district president Yameen Khan announced to leave the seat for Mohammad Yar.

Yameen Khan, former tehsil nazim Malak Fakhar Hayat, former nazim Noor Mohammad, Saeedullah and others addressed the ceremony.

Yameen Khan said that they had completed their homework on candidate’s list. He said that tickets were distributed purely on merit in consultation with workers, giving equal participation to all the areas.

The PTI leaders criticised the JI, holding it responsible for ending poll alliance in the district. They said that JI had offered PTI those seats which the former had never won. They said that despite an ally in the province, JI had not given importance to PTI workers in the district. The speakers said that PTI workers were also not in favour of forging an alliance with JI in Upper Dir.

They said that PTI would win the local government elections in the district.
