He said measures had been taken to improve the police-public relations.

As a pilot project, computerised complaint handling centres had started functioning at 10 police stations of the city. In the presence of civilian staff, people could now easily get redress with regard to their complaints at these centres.

“Steps have also been taken to ensure lodging of FIR in time. Expediting the investigation process, computerised record management and elimination of corruption at police station level would help improve the image of the force,” he said, adding that the administrative matters of these centers would be supervised by the SPs concerned.
