OKARA: Police on Sunday arrested two bridegrooms and their six relatives in separate incidents of jubilation firing.

Hujra Shah Muqeem police arrested bridegroom Sajid and his friend Javid for celebratory firing at a Mehndi function. The firing resulted in injuries to two children namely Saifullah and Tayyab.

In the second incident, police arrested bridegroom Arif, his father Sultan and relatives Abdul Ghaffar, Aamir, Amanat and Wazir Ali for jubilation firing at Fatyana Village.

Hujra Shah Moqeem police have registered two cases (FIR No. 321/15 under sections 324 and 34 of PPC, FIR No. 322/15 under sections 337H2 and 385 of PPC and 13/20/65) under Arms Ordinance 1965.

DOG SHOW: The tehsil municipal administration on Sunday organised a dog show as part of the spring festival at Jinnah Park.

Chief guests MPA Mian Muhammad Munir and District Coordination Officer Kaiser Saleem said the TMA had invited pet lovers from Lahore and other cities.

The pet lovers were given appreciation certificates.

During the last 10 days of the festival, events such as flowers show, music night, football, basket ball and cricket matches, industrial, handicraft and embroidery exhibitions, speech and essay competitions among students were held.

Similarly, different events were also held at Depalpur and Renala Khurd tehsils under the supervision of respective Assistant Commissioners Asif Rauf Khan and Syed Shafqat Raza. The 20-day festival across the district will conclude on April 29.
