KASUR: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday visited Gatti Kalanger village, some 20km from here, to condole the death of two minor boys who had lost their lives in jubilation firing on April 8.

The chief minister was scheduled to visit the village on Wednesday, but his visit was cancelled because of his engagement in Saudi Arabia.

He suspended DSP Hasan Farooq and Ganda Singh SHO Muhammad Tahir from service for their failure to check jubilation firing.

Shahbaz announced Rs500,000 each for the families of the victims and assured them that justice would be done.

The jubilation firing had claimed the lives of Shamshad, 9, and Waseem, 8. The suspects, close relatives of the victims, had already been arrested.

The chief minister said it was the duty of the police to take stern action against those involved in jubilation firing.

He also went to Fatehpur village where he condoled with MNA Malik Rasheed Ahmed over the death of his brother.
