SIALKOT: Two convicted rapists Abid Maqsud and Sanaullah alias Billu will be hanged at the district jail on April 22.

Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Bushra Zaman issued black warrants for their execution in an 18-year-old girl’s gang-rape case.

Mercy appeals of the convicted had been rejected by the Lahore High Court, the Supreme Court and the Presidency.

According to the prosecution, Maqsud and Sanaullah had gang-raped a girl in Begowala village, Sambrial tehsil, on Aug 29, 1997.

The Gujranwala ATC had awarded death sentence to the convicts on June 24, 1998.

ARRESTED: Bambaanwala police registered a case against 22 suspects for allegedly running a fake lucky draw prize scheme in Gojra-Daska village and plundering large sums of money from people by offering them prizes though a draw.

Police registered a case under sections 294-A, 294-B and 420 of PPC and sent several suspects behind bars.

Further investigation was under way.

DROWN: Two minors drowned in a seasonal water pond in village Tarkwal-Lessar Kalan on Friday.

Azhar, 5, and Ansar, 3, were playing near the pond with other children when they slipped into the pond and drowned.

Locals recovered their bodies.

Later, both the children were buried in the local graveyard.
