LAHORE: Police claimed on Thursday to have identified the suicide bomber who attacked Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines.

A senior police officer told Dawn the attacker was identified as Sabir of Orakzai agency in Federally Administrated Tribal Area (Fata).

He said the DNA test reports revealed that the man who carried out a suicide attack on Wagah border had the same family tree as the Police Lines bomber.

He said the investigations showed the suicide bomber who hit Police Lines arrived in Lahore some two weeks before the attack and the suspects who facilitated him were also arrested.

At least five people, including two policemen, were killed and 31 others suffered injuries in the attack outside the Qila Gujjar Singh Police lines.

Some 65 people, including 10 women and seven children, were killed in the blast near Wagah border. The attacker blew himself up when a large number of people were returning after watching the flag lowering ceremony at Wagah.
