LAHORE: The Tehrik-i-Istiqlal (TI) has demanded that the ongoing operation against criminals in Karachi should be conducted across the board without considering political affiliation of the criminals.

TI president Rehman Khan Wardag told Dawn here on Wednesday that the intentions of the political and military leadership of restoring peace in Karachi were welcome but it should make the exercise even-handed instead of targeting just Muttahida Qaumi Movement. He said the authorities should also target other outfits to negate the impression of victimisation of one party, adding that he had already written a detailed letter to the federal government, inviting its attention to the seemingly selective operation.

Mr Wardag lauded former president Asif Zardari for ordering removal of barricades from around the Bilawal House in Karachi.
