TIMERGARA: The local chapter of PPP on Tuesday formed a committee to nominate the candidate for by-election on PK-95 and also the contestants for the forthcoming local government polls.

The by-election is scheduled to be held on May 7.

A decision to this effect was made at a meeting at Balambat chaired by Senator Ahmad Hassan Khan.

PPP workers from different parts of the district were in attendance.

Senator Khan, PPP Lower Dir president Khurshid Ali Khan, general secretary Khadim ul Islam Jan, former party lawmakers Malik Azmat Khan, Mehmood Zeb Khan, Dr Zakirullah Khan and Mohammad Zamin spoke on the occasion and criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for ‘failing’ to utilise development funds during the last two years.

Ahmad Hassan Khan directed the party workers and district leadership to shun their differences over petty issues and get united for success of the party during polls.

“Workers should start preparing for the coming by-election on PK-95 and upcoming LG polls.”

Meanwhile, through a resolution the meeting demanded of the provincial election commission to appoint impartial election staff to the PK-95 constituency.

ISF SEEKS OWN CANDIDATE: The local chapter of Insaf Students’ Federation (ISF) of PTI on Tuesday demanded of the party leadership to field its own candidate for the by-election in PK-95, instead of forging alliance with its coalition partners.

Talking to Dawn here, the ISF divisional general secretary Sadam Khan, president, University of Malakand, Tahir Shah and president Postgraduate College, Timergara, Shiekh Ijazul Haq alleged that the JI, a coalition partner in the province, had ignored PTI workers in development schemes and decision making.

They said the JI lawmakers and ministers had been interfering in government departments to oblige party workers.

The ISF leaders also demanded of the provincial leadership to replace the party’s office-bearers in the district.

JUI-F CANDIDATE: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F on Tuesday nominated Haji Aminullah as the party’s candidate for PK-95 by-election.

The decision was announced after a meeting chaired by party’s district emir Maulana Zahid Khan.

Maulana Matiullah was nominated as the covering candidate of Mr Aminullah.

Meanwhile, Syed Awar Khan was elected as general secretary of the JUI-F, Samar Bagh chapter, and was tasked with reorganising the party in the district.
