HYDERABAD: The director of the Mirpurkhas Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has been ordered to ensure that the women who are beneficiaries of this programme in Tharparkar can draw their amount and submit a report to this effect before him on April 4.

The order was passed by Mithi Senior Civil Judge Mian Fayyaz Rabbani, who is acting as relief inspecting judge, on Tuesday on an application filed by Mohan Lal, a member of the District Bar Association (DBA) Tharparkar.

The applicant said some women residents of his area of Chelhar, Tharparkar district, had approached him and said they were not able to draw their stipend accumulated in the account for the past several months.

He said that according to his information, accounts of 7,000 women were blocked because their cards that were issued to them along with a subscriber identification module (SIM) were not working due to some technical issue.

He said that safe estimates showed that between Rs30,000 and Rs35,000 was lying in each woman’s account. They were running from pillar to post to get this problem fixed, but in vain, he added.

The relief inspecting judge directed the Mirpurkhas BISP director to submit a report in this regard and ensure that all BISP beneficiaries must get their stipend on time.
