KARACHI: K-Electric, Omar Associates and Khayaban-e-Amin all sealed emphatic victories by innings on day two of their fourth-round matches in the Patron’s Trophy (Grade-II) Cricket Tournament on Sunday.

K-Electric, one of favourites for the title which will earn a place in next season’s Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver National Cricket Championship, were simply too strong for the feeble Saudi Cricket International as they won the Group ‘A’ fixture by an innings and 201 runs at the RLCA Gulberg Ground.

Centuries from Israrullah (124 off 123 balls, 20 boundaries), Saud Shakeel (119 not out off 110, 11 fours) and Rameez Raja (100 off 69, eight fours and five sixes) helped K-Electric extend their overnight total of 129-0 to a massive 464-3 declared.

Starting their second innings with a huge deficit of 272 runs, Saudi Cricket International were shot out for 71 with spinner Faraz Ahmed snaring figures of seven for 27.

Omar Associates celebrated their first win after two rain-ravaged draws in Group ‘B’ when they whipped Humak Engineering by an innings and 163 runs at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad.

Humak Engineering, 299 behind on the first innings, were all out for 136 after Omar Associates had carried their Saturday’s tally from 324-3 to 418-8 declared in 68.1 overs.

Khayaban-e-Amin chalked up their second triumph in Group ‘D’ as a result of their innings and 92-run defeat of Income Tax at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Resuming at 250-4 in response to Income Tax’s paltry first-innings’ score of 123, Khayaban-e-Amin reached 394. Batting a second time, the taxmen were dismissed for 179 with Shakeel Ahmed capturing six wickets for 50 runs.
