KARACHI: First day’s leader Ghazanfar Mehmood, who slipped to second spot on the penultimate day shot a best round of 66, six under par, to win the 15th Sindh Amateur Golf Championship at the Karachi Golf Club on Sunday as top three positions were clinched by upcountry golfers.

Rawalpindi’s Ghazanfar, a seasoned golfer, accumulated three round scores of six under par 210 to win by six strokes. His first two day’s scores were 71 and 73.

Peshawar’s Taimur Khan who remained consistent finished runner up six shots behind the champion at par 216. He played a par round on the concluding day.

Similarly, Quetta’s Dilshad Ali also came into prominence by grabbing the third place in the main event with three-day aggregate of 223, seven over par. Though he was not impressive on the first two days, his third round score of 69 helped him finish amongst the top three.

Sohail Rana annexed the seniors gross title and was followed by SGA president Asad I A Khan.

Aania Farooq, who recently represented the country in the Bangladesh event, shone in the ladies gross event followed by Tahira Nazeer.

Mr. Aslam R Khan, former managing director of PIA and an ex SGA president, who graced the prize distribution ceremony, gave away the prizes.
