Imran promises ‘real change’ in province after LG polls

BANNU: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said that owing to the sit-in protests and struggle of his party the federal government has formed an independent judicial commission to probe malpractices and rigging in the 2013 general elections.

Speaking at a public meeting here on Saturday, Mr Khan said that formation of the judicial commission to probe rigging had become necessary. He said that all elections in the country except the 1970 polls were rigged.

He said that 2015 was the year of change as the people had come on the roads to hold the rulers accountable for the poll rigging. He said that those responsible for financial and polls irregularities would be taken to task.

Mr Khan said that the PTI-led government had put a firm hand on the timber mafia in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the timber mafia had cut the forests and incurred huge losses to the country.

He said that PTI had started its journey to bring about a change in the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that a real change would take place after the local government elections. He said after the local government elections the people would be able to take decisions about the development of their areas on their own, without waiting for the rulers.

The PTI chairman said that the provincial government had launched the Sehat Ka Insaf programme to provide better health care facilities to the people. He said that people getting health care facilities felt happy and satisfied.


Says those responsible for poll irregularities to be taken to task


Mr Khan said that his party would continue to provide more facilities and basic amenities of life to the neglected segments of the society. He said that people would see a visible change in the hospitals’ performance in the next three months.

He said that the PTI-led government had spent huge funds on improvement of education system in the province and would earmark more funds for the sector to ensure best education facilities to the youngsters.

The PTI chief said that there were different sets of laws for the poor and the rich in the country. He said that the investors and rich people did business in the country, but maintained their bank accounts in foreign countries. He said that the rulers had been spending huge funds on projects like metro bus, but they were doing nothing for the poor of the country to improve their life standard.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on the occasion that the provincial government had brought a visible change in the governance system. He said that in the past corrupt people and politicians occupied the office of the chief minister and the ministers were also involved in corruption and corrupt practices, but now his government had effectively blocked such practices.

He said that the provincial government had earmarked Rs200 million for the improvement of hospitals in the province. With these funds, the government would like to bring the district headquarters hospitals on a par with the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, to provide the best health care facilities to the people.
