KARACHI: Sajid Khan of Navy shot a brilliant 70, two under par, to overtook first round leader Ghazanfar Mehmood on the penultimate day of the 15th Sindh Amateur Golf Champion­ship at the Karachi Golf Club on Saturday.

Sajid, who fired 73 in the first round, surged to top by accumulating one under 143 for the two rounds.

Ghazanfar, who played one over 73 on Saturday, is tied with in the second place with Taimur Khan a stroke behind at a par score of 144.

Ahmed Jamil Siddiqui and Arshad Altaf carded three over 75 to emerge joint leaders after first round in the 36 holes seniors event.

Three golfers — Brig Ayaz Peer, Sohail Rana and Asad I A Khan — are tied in the second place at 78, six over par.

Meanwhile, defending champion Asghar Ali of the KGC retained veteran’s title by posting a card of 80 gross.
