KARACHI: K-Electric and Omar Associates dominated the opening day of their fourth-round fixtures in the Patron’s Trophy (Grade-II) Cricket Tournament on Saturday.

On day one of the three-day Group ‘A’ game at the RLCA Gulberg Ground, K-Electric were well-placed at 129-0 after dismissing Saudi Cricket International for 192 in their first innings.

Babar Hussain Agha blasted a 96-ball 95 (14 boundaries and one six) as Pakistan Navy reached 193-5 after bowling out Pakistan Customs for 179 at the NBP Sports Complex.

Shahzar Hasan hit 139 (163 balls, 17 fours and seven sixes) to help Medicam make 359 before Sindh Police replied with 29-2 at the UBL Sports Complex.

Returning Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir grabbed four wickets for 26 runs while helping Omar Associates bundle out Humak Engineering for a scanty 119 in the Group ‘B’ fixture at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad. Skipper Saad Nasim chipped in with 3-22 with his leg-spinners.

Opener Fazal Subhan then hammered an unbeaten 154 and Umar Siddique 112 as Omar Associates ended the day at a commanding 314-3 in 56 overs.

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) were also on top in the Group ‘C’ encounter by closing the day at 166-0 after restricting Railways’ first innings to 175 all out at the Rana Naved Cricket Academy — a new venue in Sheikhupura named after ex-Pakistan all-rounder Rana Naved-ul-Hasan.

HEC had Dollar East in trouble in the Group ‘D’ match at the LCCA Ground. After Dollar East mustered a disappointing 143 all out, HEC went to stumps at 131-2.
