PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has ordered immediate cancellation of all the transfers of teachers, made by the education department during the last three months.

He said that provincial government had stopped all kinds of political interference in education, police and health departments. He said that the new merit-based system set up by PTI government was being let perform fully for effective service delivery.

The chief minister also ordered inquiry into expenditure of Rs350 million, disbursed for 5,242 mosques and seminaries and directed the Anti-Corruption Establishment to immediately arrest the contractors and official allegedly involved in misappropriation of an amount of Rs15.3 million, which was released for levelling land for Mega Park in Mardan.

The chief minister issued these orders while presiding over two meetings regarding the affairs of development and procurement and installation of transformers in Mardan district, says a handout.

Says govt has stopped political interference in education, health and police departments

Provincial Minister for Education Mohammad Atif Khan, Adviser to Chief Minister Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, MPAs from Mardan Zahid Durrani, Iftikhar Mashwani, Ubaidullah Mayar and Tufail Anjum and officers concerned attended the meeting.

Mr Khattak expressed concerns over unprecedented delay in delivery of power transformers despite the fact that government had deposited money for the purpose one-and-half year ago.

He asked Wapda to fulfil its responsibility and commitment for provision of new transformers to the provincial government.

He also asked the entity to revive the closed workshops for repairing faulty transformers in Mardan and other parts of the province.

The chief minister also sought details of ‘emergency’ transformers, installed permanently at various places, and asked the authorities concerned to place the same in reserved stock only so that those could be replaced immediately in case any fault occurred in any transformer.

Meanwhile, talking to the delegations of Mardan and Upper Dir, the chief minister said that PTI would contest the forthcoming local bodies’ elections in coalition with Jamaat-i-Islami under seat adjustment arrangements.

He said that only reputed, impartial and dignified citizens would be nominated for dispute resolution councils, to be formed at local level for resolving minor disputes among the people.

Responding to a complaint regarding transfers in education department in Dir, Mr Khattak directed the provincial education minister to cancel all those transfer orders of teachers which were issued during the last three months. He said that the provincial government controlled the frequent transfers in education department.

He also ordered the authorities concerned to take immediate action to check timber smuggling in Dir.
