KARACHI: Dollar East sealed their second successive victory in the Patron’s Trophy (Grade-II) Cricket Tournament on Sunday, while Pakistan Navy thumped Sindh Police by innings in the only matches to provide outright results as rain in the northern regions of the country spoilt play on the last day.

Dollar East, winners over Face Fresh in the first round, defeated Service Industries by seven wickets on the third and final day of their Group ‘D’ fixture at the Stags Cricket Ground in Lahore,

Service Industries added 75 runs to their overnight tally of 80-3 before being dismissed for 155. Gulraiz Sadaf then hit up 55 and Azeem Ghumman an unbeaten 46 as Dollar East reached their target of 137 easily.

Navy romped to an innings and 30-run defeat of Sindh Police in the Group ‘A’ clash at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi. The policemen lost their remaining three wickets for the addition of just 30 runs to be all out for 181. Fawad Khan grabbed five for 59 while off-spinner Nasir Awais ended up with match figures of nine for 119.

The other two Group ‘A’ matches were both drawn.

Omar Associates’ hopes of chalking up their first victory were dampened by heavy rains in Rawalpindi with no play possible on the final day of their match against Capital Development Authority (CDA) at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
