Pakistan wants to have a sustained relationship with US: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday said that Pakistan wants to have a long term, sustained and multifaceted equation with the United States.
This was stated by the interior minister during his meeting with Mr Richard G. Olson, US Ambassador to Pakistan who called on Nisar at Punjab House today.
During the meeting, both diplomats discussed Pak-US bilateral relations, regional security situation and the recent visit of the interior minister to the US.
Nisar said that long term relations with the US would not only contribute towards bringing the two countries closer to each other but would also contribute significantly towards the promotion of regional peace and development.
The interior minister also said that peace in the region was a shared objective of the two countries and close collaboration and enhancing multifaceted cooperation between the two countries was of great significance for achieving shared goals.
Nisar also appreciated the White House initiative of convening a conference on countering extremism as he believed that the need to have serious discussions and deliberations on this issue was never as great as it is today.
The interior minister reiterated his call that strengthening local communities, winning the trust of mainstream peace-loving majority and building resilience in local communities against radicalization is need of the hour.
He maintained that by addressing the push factors that drive people towards extremism and focusing on education to promote tolerance could form the conceptual bedrock for the global action plan in dealing with violent extremism.
“US administration and President Obama's stance is clear in differentiating between extremism and Islam,” the minister remarked.
Ambassador Olson said that the United States was committed to further strengthening its bilateral relations with Pakistan and enhancing cooperation on issues of mutual concern.

@Desi Dimag ...yeah just like India runs like puppet whenever US ask you. Whereas China issue is considered it is you Indians want Pakistan to ditch China. When FM Hina Khar visited India the Indian leaders ask her to step away from China. Everyone know China and India fought war and China doesn't like India. China is a giant in Asia in every aspect and every nation look up on china.

@Rajni ..do you believe OBL was hiding n killed in Pakistan and US threw his body in ocean??? Suddam gadaffi were shown in media alive for months before they were put to death. Media didn't even show dead body of OBL and seal team 6 are all death in crash.....sounds fishy but look whom I'm telling ur Indian after all. :D

@Rajni ...and the world saw the body, no the pictures, no the independent witness, no the ....the.....the......US statement, and they buried him at sea, no in medical centre in US, no in Georgia, no Nevada, as per three different seal version. Ok, let's forget, US said he was there, living in the biggest house, near the military academy for 5 years, buying grocery shopping, watching TV, making calls, sending emails, oh and watching porn for good measure. Now, where exactly is the body,' we don't know, it was a long time ago, so let's not discuss the issue, but do you know anything about ' Daish', the one led by Baghdadi, who was in US prison for 3 years, and the only one with special privileges, to leave prison to socialise and have meals at restaurants'. Now that is the current issue. Btw we heard he is spreading into India. Ohhhh!

Most of the negative comments on this forum are obviously our 'disinterested' neighbors to the east. Peace is incongruous with USA the only country that used atomic bombs. The country that devastated Vietnam, destroyed Iraq despite no WMD, occupied Afghanistan, meddled and muddled Libya, created Israel an artificial and obnoxious intruder in the Middle East and now playing dear friend of India (may the Almighty save them from this monster). Pakistan should look east as the west is full of double standards, deceit and greed. This excuse for an Interior Minister should be sent home, his family is already US citizens.

I fully support a more broad and positive relationship with the US. Ordinary Americans are very nice people.
Yes - we dont agree with their Govt policies and methods - but may other countries dont either.
We need much more people to people contact so both Americans and Pakistanis can move beyond the stereotypes.

It has always been a very sustained relationship, but it has been a two-way relationship only under military governments. In a way it has been a two-way relationship under "democratic" governments also, the corrupt leaders transfer billions of dollars to the West and the West returns 10% of that as loans and calls it aid.

We use our friends reference for every small issue with oir neighbours. This damages our credibility. With improving situations in Afganistan we should now start rebuilding our country, laws, infrstructure. Lets say another 15-20 years no bravado with our neighbours or feeling insulted for petty issues. We had enough from what we sowed.

The only way Mr. Nisar you will reach the goals is to show the American public that you care is when you meet the US Ambassador on a charpoy in a more suitable environment that reflects the realities of Pakistan. And also note that Ambassadors in US carry no weight.
