ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq accepted on Thursday the resignation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA Nabil Gabol.

Sources in the National Assembly Secretariat told Dawn that the speaker had talked to Mr Gabol over telephone as the latter could not come to his chamber for verification of his resignation.

Mr Gabol had submitted resignation to the secretariat, citing “personal reasons”, on Feb 24. Talking to the reporters after submitting his resignation, he had stated that he had decided to quit the assembly because he was “misfit” in the MQM. Mr Gabol had denied that he had been forced by the party leadership to quit the assembly.
