NEW YORK: United States’ largest public school system in New York will observe the two most important Muslim holidays (Eidul Fitr and Eidul Azha) starting next year.
Muslim groups in the city of nearly 9 million people welcomed the policy change.
Under the new policy, the city’s 1.1 million-pupil public school system will close on Sept 24 for Eidul Azha.
The holiday of Eidul Fitr will be observed during summer school in 2016.
