players to watch

Bangladesh’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stage will depend on the form of their key players. MUSHFIQUR RAHIM have come a long way since touring England as a 16-year-old to become one of the stars of the current side.

A stodgy batsman, Mushfiqur has grown into one of the better players of spin in the line-up. On the pace and seaming pitches of Australia and New Zealand he has yet to prove his mettle

The former captain’s 71 against Afghanistan in Canberra is the highest score thus far for a Bangladeshi batsman in the ongoing tournament but with crunch matches coming up, Mushfiqur have to at his best both with the bat and behind the stumps.

Scotland may have not won a single World Cup fixture but they would certainly rejoice that JOSH DAVEY is one of the leading wicket-takers in the current tournament. The 24-year-old Aberdeen-born seamer is one of four bowlers with nine wickets.

Davey made his ODI debut in 2010, the same year as his first county appearance, and immediately made a sterling impression by taking five for nine against Afghanistan. At the time, they were Scotland’s best-ever bowling figures in ODI cricket. In 2012 he took 3-23 in Scotland’s win over Bangladesh in a T20 International, which was their first ever victory over an ICC Full Member.

If Scotland do break their winless run, Davey will surely play big role.
