KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two men for allegedly slaughtering and selling dog meat in the Ibrahim Hyderi area.

A case was registered against Imran and Ashraf on a complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector Asghar Ali.

According to the FIR, ASI Ali along with his patrol party caught red-handed the men who were busy slaughtering dogs near the Ibrahim Hyderi beach. A team of a private news channel was filming them, said the FIR.

The police took the two men into custody.

During interrogation, they told they were poor and under the influence of drugs.

They said that they were sitting outside the office of a charity for food in Korangi No 4 when a woman and two men asked them to slaughter a goat. They said the three persons took them to Ibrahim Hyderi in a Suzuki Hi-roof where they handed them two dead dogs demanding they slaughter the animals.

The suspects claimed that initially they refused, but the men started beating them up and in the meantime police arrived there and detained them.
