KARACHI: Pakistan CC and Alamgir Gymkhana reached semi-finals of the KCCA Zone-VI ‘A’ Division Cricket League with contrasting victories here on Sunday.

Centuries from Fazal Subhan and Mohammad Waqas and a mesmerising spell of bowling from Shahzaib Ahmed Khan guided Pakistan CC to a clinical 280-run rout of Taimuria Sports at the KCCA Stadium.

Batting first, the powerful Pakistan CC rattled up 386-4 in the allotted 40 overs. Fazal smashed 117 off only 79 balls with the help of 15 boundaries and three sixes, while Waqas struck 10 fours and a brace of sixes in making 120 from 120 balls. The pair added 198 for the opening wicket.

Shaharyar Ghani hit 86 that included six fours and five sixes.

Leg-spinner Shahzaib then snared seven wickets for just 21 runs as Taimuria Sports were shot out for 106 in 23.5 overs.

Ahsan Ali was Alamgir Gymkhana’s hero in their 31-run defeat of Northern Gymkhana at the RLCA Ground in North Karachi.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Alamgir Gymkhana collected 285-9 in 40 overs. Ahsan led the scoring with a brilliant contribution of 170. His 119-ball effort was laced with 20 boundaries and seven sixes. Usman Khan hit 61.

Left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar bagged seven wickets for 70 runs.

Northern Gymkhana’s response to the chase ended at 254 n 39.3 overs. Waqas Haroon slammed a fighting 111 off 83 deliveries. He struck 15 fours and three sixes. Akhtar Mohammad made 57.
