MUZAFFARGARH: At least eight labourers were killed and another was injured due to an electric shock received while working on a tube-well in Muzaffargarh district on Thursday.
Nine labourers were engaged in the construction of a tube-well in Gudhpur village of Rohilanwali area in the outskirts of Muzaffargarh district when a pipe, used for boring wells, came into contact with a power transmission line.
Seven construction workers died of electrocution on the spot.
Rescue and emergency teams reached the spot and began shifting the victims to a nearby hospital.
One of the wounded labourers succumbed to his wounds while being shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

This is heartbreaking. Uneducated, unskilled people are left unsupervised to do jobs for which they are not trained while educated babus sit in offices away from where they are needed.

There is rule # 1 in digging. Locate the power line, water line and gas line before digging / drilling. This is the job of contractor and utility companies.
