QUETTA: Maj Gen Shair Afghan assumed on Monday charge as Inspector General of Frontier Corps, Balochistan.

At a ceremony held at the FC Headquarters, the outgoing IG Maj Gen Mohammad Aijaz Shahid handed over the charge to Maj Gen Afghan.

Maj Gen Shahid has been posted to the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

He spoke about security situation in the region, particularly Balochistan, and the strategy to combat terrorism and to restore peace and order.

“FC Balochistan has been playing a pivotal role in the fight against terrorism and its officials and soldiers have rendered great sacrifices in the line of duty,” he said.

He paid tribute to the FC’s officers and men who fell in the line of duty and said they had sacrificed their lives for restoring law and order in the province.

He said the FC had an important role to play for the development of Balochistan.

He expressed best wishes for the new IG.
