NEW YORK: Fashion giant Tommy Hilfiger, 63, has a deal with Ballantine Books for a book expected this fall, the publisher announced Thursday.

According to Ballantine, an imprint of Random House, Hilfiger will describe "the setbacks, triumphs, and sheer determination" that marked his rise from a little denim shop in Elmira, New York, to worldwide fame. The memoir is currently untitled. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Libby McGuire, publisher of Ballantine, said the book is scheduled to appear in the fall this year, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Tommy Hilfiger brand, reported USA Today

"Reflecting on my experiences in the fashion industry over the last 30-plus years has been a wild ride, filled with milestone moments that have defined both my career and my personal life," Hilfiger said in a statement.

"I always believe the best is yet to come, but so far, I've had the adventure of a lifetime."

"After three decades in the business, he's never lost his curiosity or entrepreneurial spirit," said Jennifer Tung, head of non-fiction at Ballantine. "Now he's ready to reveal the man behind the brand and share his wisdom with readers of all generations."

Hilfiger's previous works include collaborations on New England Style and Iconic America: A Roller-Coaster Ride Through the Eye-Popping Panorama of American Pop Culture.
