KARACHI: Sindh Women Development and Special Education Minister Rubina Qaimkhani has said that her department has selected seven minor blind students whose vision can be restored by minor operation and that a study has been undertaken to determine the number of disabled children with one or other disability, including vision and hearing- and speech-impairments.
The minister, who was addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday along with the children, added that the students were selected from Sukkur, Hyderabad and Karachi from the 75 disabled centres of the department.
The selected students were: Syed Saqlain, Sajjad Ali and Javed Ali from Sukkur, Abdullah, Ashiq and baby Maheen from Hyderabad and baby Ramsha from Karachi.
She said that each operation would cost Rs45,000 and their vision would be restored.
