UoP to promote research culture

PESHAWAR: The first meeting of the research forum of the University of Peshawar on Tuesday decided to hold IDEAS competition among the faculty and students in order to promote research culture on the campus.

The office of the research innovation and commercialisation (ORIC) of the UoP has set up the forum.

Around 50 scientists and faculty members of the faculty of life and environmental sciences participated in the meeting chaired by UoP vice chancellor Professor Mohammad Rasul Jan.

The meeting also decided to take steps towards bridging gap between the academia and industry with special focus on development of patents and community based projects.

On the occasion, Professor Rasul Jan said that the modern role of universities was to ensure accessibility, quality and more importantly relevance of higher education to the market demands. He added that the UoP would take every step to ensure conduct of the research that was beneficial for general public.
