LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) retired Capt Amin Wains for not producing witnesses in a murder case.

The court had issued several directions to the CCPO, however, he did not turn up and it issued the warrants, asking the DIG Operations to produce the CCPO on Jan 28.

The CCPO was not producing witnesses in Dr Sagheer murder case.

VERDICT RESERVED: An anti-terrorism court reserved verdict on bail petitions of four suspects involved in attacking a candlelit vigil at Liberty Chowk in memory of slain governor Salman Taseer.

Suspects Furqan, Adeel, Wazir Ali and Iftikhar Ali denied the charges in their bail petitions.

The court is likely to announce verdict on Wednesday (today).

PARDONED: An additional district and sessions judge acquitted two murder suspects after heirs of the victim pardoned them.

Factory Area police had registered a murder case of Javed Akhtar against his two friends, Rizwan and Irfan, on the complaint of Akhtar’s wife Ishrat Bibi.

The accused had killed Akhtar after serving him intoxicants on March 16, 2014.

The heirs of Akhtar submitted affidavits in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ejaz Hasan Awan, favouring the release of the suspects.
