LAHORE: Newly-elected office-bearers of the Akhbar Farosh Union took oath of their offices here on Sunday.

Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Siddiqul Farooq administered oath to President-elect Chaudhry Nazeer Ahmed, general secretary Babar Yaseen and six other members of the union.

The union leaders on the occasion demanded a new building for the Akhbar Market as structure of the existing building was in poor condition.

The capacity of the existing structure was also limited in view of the manifold increase in the number of publications, they added.

Mr Farooq promised to provide new space from the ETPB properties but asked the union to identify a proper place for the purpose.
