Devoid of trees

Published January 26, 2015

WHILE travelling often from Islamabad to my home town, I find both the sides of roads and railway lines devoid of trees, which is a very dismal sight.

Now, when the world is very much concerned about pollution, we are felling trees at an alarming rate.

Trees are a blessing of God. They provide oxygen to our polluted atmosphere and absorb all harmful gases. They provide shade to all. Trees help in bringing down temperature and cause rain. The leaves of trees are food for animals while the branches that are trimmed and cut in winter provide heat and energy to the poor.

The wood provided by trees would surely save the common people from freezing cold, especially those living in abject poverty. The KP government needs to resolve this issue.
