ISLAMABAD: The capital police booked 19 more khateebs for violating the ban on the use of loudspeakers during Friday prayers.

However, only five of them were arrested.

The police said so far 223 cases had been registered under the amplifier act.

The 19 cases were registered with the Margalla, Ramna, Tarnol, Golra, Noon, Shalimar, Bhara Kahu and the Industrial Area police.

Meanwhile, the capital police arrested 67 suspects during a search operation.

The arrests were made by the Shalimar, Ramna, Sabzi Mandi and Tarnol police.

The police said they conducted a door-to-door search checking the particulars of the residents.

During the process, the 67 people failed to produce their identity documents and furnish the reasons for their stay in the capital. As a result, they were taken into custody for questioning.
