LAHORE: A well-handicapped eight-event card awaits the race goers during the 21st Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

In all, 78 horses are to take part in the races with two to be gone over 900 metres, three over 1m000 metres and as many to be contested over 1m300 metres.

The feature event, the Blooming Plate, a term race for three-year-old thoroughbred and half-bred colts and fillies (Maidens) set to be contested over 1,300 metres has a field of 10 acceptors.

The runners, none having won a race, represent five top sires and are expected to provide a thrilling finish to be enjoyed by the connoisseurs of the equine sports. The other events too promise a good competition to swing either way between punters and turf accountants.

Meanwhile, the Lahore Race Club (LRC) has notified for the information of equine sports lovers that the 1000 Guineas Of Pakistan will be staged on Feb 1, the Derby Trials on Feb 15 and the annual cherished Pakistan Derby 2015 on March 8. The LRC plans to hold the events in traditional way.
