ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday said that the time has come for ‘bold decisions’ to eliminate terrorism from the country.
This message was conveyed by Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Asim Bajwa on Twitter, in which he quoted the army chief as telling the meeting of parliamentary leaders in Islamabad.
General Raheel Sharif also said that “we owe it to our next generations to eliminate this scourge once and for all.”
Earlier on, the COAS had briefed the meeting during which he said that 2100 terrorists were killed and 190 soldiers had died during Operation Zarb-i-Azb which is being carried out in the North Waziristan tribal region.

The meeting in the federal capital is being held to tackle the threat of terrorism after the Peshawar school attack in which 134 children were killed.
The army chief described the school attack as a “ghastly act of cowardice” and said the perpetrators of the attack were “not only enemies of Pakistan but enemies of humanity”.

Army General are real patriots, these politicians are coward.. We salute the General for showing leadership to make bold decision but I doubt it that politicians will follow, the civil leadership will drag this as usual

When we defend the killers against capital punishment we need to remember what they are capable of. Their next target could be you, me and our children. At the same time, we need to laud the sacrifices of our soldiers, paramilitary and the police who have been writing history with their blood. It is time to stop buying bullet proof mercedes cars, planes and helicopters for the politicians, and invest in those who are at the forefront of this war.

can you remove blasphemy law, can you hang those people who kill minorities in Pakistan, can you provide education and employment to rural Pakistan, can you remove religion say from state matters?

@AXH I would not jump to the conclusion. Unless he mean to all forms of terrorism than yes it can be done. Otherwise nothing will change. The animosity among different creed of people will increase and things will get worse. If someone think they can achieve peace by suppressing the rights of some of the people using blunt force are day dreaming.

This is the umptieth time I am hearing this from the generals in Pakistan over the last more than 10 years. The real war is in the villages and is not a war of guns. If we have to save the next generation, please focus on educating the next generation in far flung villages, provide them hope for future and establish social uplift. Military cannot solve all the problems of a country with using guns.

Pakistan Army always relied on the tribal people for proxy wars. Invasion of Kashmir in 1948, 1965, Siachin misadventure, Afghan wars are a few to mention. Pakistan Army has plan using them in future to balance Indian influence in Afghanistan. We do not know who are the terrorists but media reports suggest they reside in the tribal areas. How Pakistan Army can eliminate their strategic allies? Doesn't make any sense. Its all to de-emotionalize Pakistanis. Nothing will every change.
